PAL runs a centre in Arequipa, Peru where poor families are given support. The emphasis is on helping the children reach their potential. A range of ‘after school’ activities such as music and arts and crafts are provided. This has resulted in children doing much better in school.
New computers with access to broadband have been purchased due to the generous donation of Margaret Van der Berg. The children are taught music and in particular Andean music in order to foster a sense of pride in their own culture. The children and their parents learned how to make to chocolate sweets which they can sell to shops and earn some money.
